I quite liked the waffle thread.  I think we all did.  I was rather proud that I managed to stay away (eventually) from the "1 to a .." and "picture association" threads though Smiley

This was probably a bit abrupt, likely somewhat immature, and certainly fairly rude, but I am quitting these boards as well as the Music and Society boards.

This has nothing to do with anyone directly or indirectly involved except myself.

Several times I have told myself that I should cut back, but never did so, and I think cancelling my account is currently the only way to keep what I can only diagnose as an addictive personality in check.

Yesterday I was to keep an eye on my son, which I did, but at one point he lost his balance trying to stand and called out to me. I let out a sound of sympathy while trying to finish typing a sentence in the most inane post I'd ever conceived, and by the time I'd finished the ****ing sentence he had pretty much given up on getting some positive feedback from me. It became clear that I have done enough of this.

I am sorry and hope no one is offended. I can still be reached by email if people need and want me. I may be back in the future when my life allows for it.

I also deleted Facebook from my life, which I will miss less, and on a completely different note I encourage everyone else to do the same. Facebook is actually evil!

Thanks for all your fascinating input while you've been here, Dishy - I understand your reasons for pulling the plug, but hope that maybe you might drop in now and again in a way that's comfortable for you?

I'm glad you have a full and rewarding life that's dragging you away from us - there's no shame in that Smiley

From what I hear, I would not care to differ on that. Sorry to see you have to make the decision to withdraw from these boards, but can well understand your motivation. All the best to you and your family.

Have you actually managed to delete yourself from Facebook? I though once you were in you could never get out again Angry

Sorry you're going Chafers, I'll miss you.

Good luck to you and your son, sounds like he came up alright on the caring dad front.

Chafe, I think there are many here who sympathise about addictive traits! A real shame you have to go, but your reasons are well understood. You've been a great presence here and your knowledge and humour will certainly be missed.

PS. You haven't left any of your snatches unsolved, have you?!  Shocked

Sorry to hear that you are leaving us, Chafers. The web can be a deceptively addictive place, I suspect that many of us here would hold their hands up to spending far more time either here or on other sites than we probably should. Or even need to.

Hope you may feel able to return here at some stage. In the meantime, enjoy you and yours.

All the best, Chafers

Dishy,

Quite understand your predicament and your reaction to it, and look forward to seeing you again when circumstances permit or the need arises, which I hope will not be too far in the future.

Until then, all the very best.

CD
Stay in touch - I hope you've got a record of my email address.
It's always sad to see someone leaving the boards but incredibly hard to self-moderate one's access.
I did write you a long PM but then you'd gone so I couldn't send it.
Look after yourself and your family and we'll keep a chair for you at the table.

You will be fondly remembered, dear Dish. Please give my regards to Madame Spoon. And I commend you for your decision in favor of your son. Babies don't keep.
