A warm welcome, wexoperafan. What are your favourites and, in particular, where did you see them?    Smiley

I'm guessing that the wex is for Wexford, Stanley, though whether our newest member hails from there or it is simply their opera venue of choice is as yet uncertain. Perhaps he or she might care to enlighten us?

In either case, welcome....

Yup, I had the same hunch, Ron, and I'm sure that the local Opera House has seen many outstanding productions over the years.   Let us await confirmation or correction, erm, on the facts!

There is a wexford opera festival I think.

In any event, whether you be Irish or nae, warm welcomes! (I am Irish, for what it's worth; and there are several other Irish residents here I think).

Welcome wexoperafan Smiley Hope you enjoy your excursion here. The natives are friendly, hugely knowledgable and, it has been known, also entertaining Grin A word of warning, this MB can be addictive and it is almost inevitable that your nickname will be abbreviated! Enjoy.

I believe that's what's known as a self-fulfilling prophecy, Mort...

Anyway, welcome, wexoperafan.  Smiley

Hello All

Thank you very much for the very warm welcome.

I am indeed from Wexford, and have been involved with the opera festival here for quite a while.

I finally decided to take the plunge and register on here, after observing for a few weeks.
From what I have seen there are very lively and informed discussions on a wide range of topics, and I hope to participate in the future.

Best wishes

WexOp

Hello WexOp!  There's already a sizeable number of opera fans on here, so you are very welcome!

WexOp,

Thanks for getting back to us so soon, and clarifying things for us. Don't forget that you can start discussions as well as joining in: we all look forward to hearing more from you.

Welcome Wexoperafan.  I've never been to the Wexford Festival but must do so at some point - most of the operas you do there are so obscure even I haven't seen them...

Here's a good starting point, wexoperafan.    I'm relying entirely on memory but I seem to recall regular R3 broadcasts from the Wexford Festival, introduced by Sean Rafferty.     I also recall Elaine Padmore as its director, mother of the now well-established Mark?   As Ruth says, many rarities in their repertoire.     What has been programmed recently?
