Oooh, looks nice in here. Or at least better than the BBC's boards will be soon...

I guess I'd better introduce myself. My name's Fish, 34, male, in East Anglia. My home on the net is http://custardsurgery.com/azerbaijan

I stumbled on R3 a few years ago during a long bout of insomnia - "Late Junction" and "Through The Night" quickly became required listening for me even when that had subsided. I'm still very much a newbie when it comes to "classical" - I kind of started at Stravinsky's "Firebird" and have just blindly felt my way from there, picking up whatever sounded interesting to my ears, from Verdi to Ligeti.

But I'm also a fan of R3's other strands of music - world, "new" and - to a slightly lesser extent - jazz, and I'm disappointed by the recent schedule changes [not to mention the complete disregard for every other form of music that they call an "Experience"].

Enough for now. I'm sure I'll cross swords with y'all soon enough...  Wink

Wow! Tegan! Those were the days.

I suspect you'll find us friendly, informative and maybe a little bit anorakish. I hope that's more or less what you're looking for.

Welcome!  Smiley

Hi Fishophile,

Let's hope that you feel more in than out of water here. (And if you get the album reference, so much the better!) Wink

Thanks, guys!

Oliver - it's definitely what I'm looking for - I'm still following leads when it comes to good music, so I hope to pick up some clues from the "experts"...

Ron - I think I know what you mean, squire Wink

Hello fishofile!

I'm another refugee from the Radio 3 boards.

Just had a look at them today and it looks a bit grim.

So I'll swim around in here for a bit ...

Welcome, Fishophile! How good to see somebody else from East Anglia, the flattest part of the country until you get on a bike. I used to haunt various bits of Sluffok.

I would be interested to know what formed the core of your listening choices before you began exploring the world of "classical" music.

No, I'm not a complete idiot. I'm only a halfwit. In fact I'm actually a catfish.
