Hello everyone at R3B.

I have arrived here from the BBC R3 site after a true journey of discovery. I have been brought on classical music since I was born. I have been searching the ether for ages trying to find a recording of Mahler 8th 1986 at the Royal Albert Hall with Lorin Maazel. I found someone on the R3 message boards but alas no IMing - so I'm here. Anyway, that's me in a nutshell - so hi all again.

When in doubt, wash.

Welcome scoutdesign. Hope you find that recording soon.

Merely corroborative detail, intended to give artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative.

Welcome, scoutdesign - and hello, again.     I replied at TOP re the Maazel, Mahler 8 performance in 1979 and you will find our private messageboard useful and free from bureaucracy.   The later off-air video performance by Maazel at the 1986 Proms sounds promising.  Do let us know how you get on.

Welcome, scoutdesign.  Nice to see my trail of breadcrumbs led you in the right direction.  Good luck swapping recordings with Caliban (and I hope you'll stay and chat with the rest of us Smiley)

I've been away for the weekend, but you'll recognise my name as your first respondent at TOP (The Other Place), Mike. Glad you found your way over here: I think you'll find it rather more relaxed and rather less judgemental (or, indeed, 'mental' without the 'judge'!)
