I think the trend in the world is in favour of small ensembles. There was even an article some time ago on this subject in one of news papers here.
I love to listen to ensembles and chamber music now, but I used to prefer orchestra concerts.

Me too. The level of playing by ensembles and chamber groups nowadays is higher than that of symphony orchestras, I think. In the past, orchestras were just as good as chamber groups. I think this has changed because there's less rehearsal time and conductors are often abroad and don't spent enough time with their orchestra.

You would probably not hear my ensemble on the radio either. We do a series of 4-5 concerts a year at the WDR and the station records them. But the head of new music at the station doesn't like us so they never get broadcast.  Angry

At least there will be a musikFabrik feature on WDR 3 coming Thursday, Oliver:

Ah yes, so there was. Couldn't hear it myself but some of my colleagues were a little amused at the rehearsal snippets Raoul chose to broadcast. Apparently he captured some not entirely unheated discussion...  Cool

I was a bit disappointed by the programme, o-s. Usually the Thursday evening features on WDR 3 are very entertaining and informative but this one was a bit boring I'm afraid. Sad

Is there any news of new MusikFabrik concerts on WDR 3?

Haven't heard anything I'm afraid, pim. It would be nice of course but I'm not holding my breath...

I would love to hear a MusikFabrik concert on WDR 3. The sound quality of that station is so much better than that of Radio 3.
