Those of you who frequent the BBC MBs - normally referred to here as TOP (The Other Place) may be aware of a new member there called Songbird456, who was looking for other young people to discuss music with, and who was recommended to come to us. I'm glad to see that this has now happened, and hope that it will be a happy experience. (Even some of us who are positively ancient are still young at heart, so there should be a meeting of minds, at least.) I'm deducing that Songbird plays the trumpet, since one of the posts over there is asking where it might be possible to obtain the dots for what I assume is the Miles Davis Sketches of Spain arrangement of the middle movement of the Concierto de Aranjuez, though for trumpet rather than flugel....

Welcome, Songbird456, enjoy your stay!

Hi Songbird. We don't have many teenagers as members but there are some and rather more who are still in their twenties ( not to be ageist about anything ). I think you will find the forum informal and welcoming and not in the least patronising !

Hi songbird! Good to see you here. There are a few youngsters around, not that age matters when we all share a love of music. You'll find plenty or composers, performers, teachers and writers on music here too, as well as downright enthusiasts.

(And it's.... fun!)

Hi Songbird,

Welcome!

Many of us also have teenagers minds even though the body is physically a bit older.

Er, tactful cough, songbird, your email address is showing on your profile.  You can hide it from the rest of us if you wish by going into Profile - Account related settings.

Hi (Ruby again) - that function wasn't working for me at all, so I got paranoid and changed my e-mail address to something meaningless. Unfortunately that kicked me out altogether and now I've had to reincarnate myself.

It's all very complicated...

Ruby, it's confusing because even when you've ticked the 'hide email' box, YOU can still see your own address. I've just checked and yours is hidden from everyone else, so no worries!

Oh... it looks different now though - I can't see the little envelope icon under my new name, whereas previously I could.

It's gone from Ruby1 but that's probably because the account is locked out! Ha ha ha ha...

Oh well, another day another identity.  How glamorous does that sound?

Ah, now it's come back again for me so I presume you're right.  You live and learn.

Sorry for hijacking the thread with mindless jabbering.  As you were... Smiley

What do you think the rest of us are doing half the time?

Ha ha ha... it doesn't look mindless to me!  Quite the opposite.

I've just realised that my "As you were..." could have been taken the wrong way - I hope it wasn't.  Clearly I meant "carry on as you were..." not "I'm jabbering mindlessly as you were.."

Permit me an embarrassed smilie?  Embarrassed
