The Moderation Team would like to take this opportunity to apologise to any new members who might have joined us recently intending to become part of the community, and found our usual welcomes missing. There is a simple, if unfortunate, reason for this: over the past few days, our board has been subjected to what appears to have been an orchestrated attempt to hijack it in order to post serially the same links to articles alleging that a particular composer was being cold-shouldered by certain members of the musical establishment. One of these links was to potentially libellous material, giving us no option but to remove it in our own interests. It was followed by more of the same, sometimes from the same poster, sometimes from a new one, even sometimes using a different name but posting from the same I.P. address: our rules clearly state that multiple identity posting is forbidden, so where we could trace such action, we have acted accordingly.
Some of the new members who arrived in the midst of all this have yet to post: it may be that some, who have watched us for some time and think that they'd be at home here, have been put off by the sudden change in temperature in our greetings: if so, then we're sorry; we're always happy to welcome bona fide additional members to what is (on the whole) a very friendly site. If this is so, please make yourself known, tell us something about yourself, and join in. You will of course be welcome.
No welcome, however, will be extended to those who are biding their time simply to disrupt proceedings. Maintaining a pleasant atmosphere here is our main intent: those who set out to use us as advertising space for a personal vendetta will soon find their privileges curtailed or their membership terminated.
