hello everyone

I've been lurking around the old new music boards quite a while now, anyway I suppose I'd better say a more formal hello here.

I play cello (mainly new music and free improvisation) and electronic things, occasionally record some concerts and work at the bmic

Hi Richard,

Welcome! I suppose the new MB's at the BBC don't allow you to chat about your cello  Roll Eyes

Hmm, is your avatar a piccy of your cello then? Looks appropriate for Mixing It I guess, but not for playing the Elgar  Grin

Hi John,

It is indeed my cello, and I don't think I could get away with talking about it on the new boards..unless it was featured in one of their programmes... the most likely would have- alas, been mixing it in that state  Cry

At least here there remains a bastion of hope for free discussion of music

I took that photo about a year ago, for a cello and electronics recital- unfortunately none of it was plugged in (that could get quite Derek Bailey-esque). The other month trinity college did something similar (involving a cellist and wires) for their 'Wired up' festival.
