As part of a tidy up most of the Welcome Threads from February are being archived.

Some of the more intestesting threads though will remain here.

Threads from February are being archived.

And is that an accessible archive, JW?

The archives are hidden from members, but accessible to admin, i.e. I can retrieve/restore anything, e.g. your own Welcome thread, if you really wanted it  Smiley

The 'archives' contain a Miscellaneous folder where we put 'forgotten' topics/threads that eventually will be first in line for complete removal if the forum grows too big for the space allocation we have.

I think we are a long way off having to remove data permanently as we have not yet posted 1000 topics/threads, but it's a good idea to be 'tidying' now because it's a very laborious process for the Moderators to check the 'interest' of each topic/thread and consider whether to ask the author(s), and the activity should not be left until we have 10,000 topics to trawl through.

Anything with a good musical discussion/knowledge/review or programme comment should stay forever in my opinion.

A lot of the Coffee bar stuff might be considered for archiving, e.g. old quizzes but they in fact only occupy very few 'threads' so the best thing might be, at some point, e.g. when they exceed 1000 postings, to start NEW Connections and NEW WhoWhat? threads so that at a future date the OLD ones can be archived in one click.

I expect old Waffle is considered SACRED GROUND and will be left intact  Cool but it might be a good idea to start a NEW Waffle thread when the first goes past the 2000 mark ??

Opinions sought!!!

If anyone is feeling a bit 'tusky' they may like to know how (if at all) archiving and deletion of a thread affects personal stats........

But being an Omega Male I am of course, not bovverrred

Good point Tommo.

Archiving won't affect stats. Permanent removal will.

We're not really at the stage for removal of anything from this forum but the archiving process gets us prepared, avoids panic, we choose our time, and the active discussions are not affected.
