So this is it - the last LJ at a time when right-minded people can hear it. I shall have to turn into even more of an owl. Serves me right for asking that CotW be broadcast an an hour when yer workin' classes can listen.

Still, as my favourite cat would say:

What's this? Have they changed the time of Late Junction?  Shocked

But that's the last straw! I ALWAYS listen to that when I go to bed: it's my alarm clock in reverse so to speak. And then I go on listening until a piece comes on that irritates me, and that's time to switch off.

How will I know when it's bed time?

More Moondog tonight - different stuff - a madrigal - to the fantastic CD I bought last year after an extended Moondog outing on LJ. Recommeded.

Was lured to listen to Wednesday's programme (11th April ) by mention of L'Arpegiatta. Good programme, not too much of Fiona's Nordic noodlings. But back to L'Arpegiatta, this featured cd is with the Kings Singers and seems to be another record of music from baroque Latin America. Everyone and his dog seems to be making these discs in the last couple of years...the Harp Consort, Ex Cathedra, Florilegium, Hesperion XXI and now L'Arpegiatta. Strange how fashion can drive things even kin the most esoteric of areas.

This has been a really good week so far. I'm Listening Again to Tuesday, and looking forward to tonight and more LA tomorrow. Also (day off) time to catch up with WTSIT downloads!

Excellent programme on Thursday. Listened in order to hear Bryars' Titanic ( not sure why cos I've got the cd anyway but wanted to hear it in the context of the programme ) But Indian slide guitar, qwaali, ouds, duduks and folk made it a fine package with a refreshing lack of "here's another track from the latest cd by...."

Was almost ready for sleep last night when Bryars Titanic came on - what a strange strange work this is (first time heard it) not sure whether i like it or hate it but was wide awake by the end (what was that woman talking about every now and then)Huh

She was one of the remaining survivors and is speaking about the event in an interview that I believe was by Bryars himself. The odd thing is that even with repeated listening, it seems to be deliberately recorded so that it isn't actually possible to make out anything she is saying.

I made out a few words here and there - the other thing was the strange orchestration almost as if recorded underwater - think i must get this even though not sure if i will regret it or not  Shocked

I usually don't listen to this program because it is too late for me. However I can not sleep tonight for some reason and I tuned in to this program.
The only piece I recognized was Messian, the rest I did not know, but two pieces after Messian were fascinating to me.
Fiona Talkington introduces award-winning group Kwadrofonik who play improvisations on Polish folk music, plus music from Yann Tiersen, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Messiaen.

Hi T-P - i also thought Kwadrofonik was interesting - i usually try and listen to LJ when i can - never really know what to expect -nearly always something unusual - and as its always late if i dont like i just fall asleep  Roll Eyes

I hope to remember the name of the group Kwadrofonik. I liked them very much.
