Another high quality programme from Lucy tonight.

Andy is still ill but there is a note from Roger Short, Andy's
producer, to say that he's on the mend and is due back on 16th July.
They're saving the Tinariwen session for his return.

There was a special concert recording from Africando tonight. I felt
the second half was stronger than the first half but it was all good.

My favourite track of the night was 'Cien Anos' by Mexican Pedro
Infante. It stood head and shoulders above everything else.

However I was also hugely impressed by the Vietnamese singer Huong
Thanh with her song 'Crossing the Valley'. I may be buying the Rough
Guide to Vietnam of which it's the opening track.

See you next week folks!

Thanks for the post. Haven't been able to keep up with the show recently but hope to get a chance to listen again at the weekend. Good that Mr Kershaw is on the mend and it seems his absence caught R3 on the hop but when he is next on holiday or on an overseas assignment, it would be good for a change to get a presenter who isn't otherwise represented in the schedules. I've mentioned Simon Broughton, I guess people like Mark Russell and the third lady who occasionally did Late Junction have left under rather acrinonious circumstances.

I've really enjoyed Lucy's programmes, it would be good to hear a few more in the future. Not the range of music that Andy plays - can't imagine her playing the Clash or the Mekons! - but then she also thankfully avoids some of the Kershaw favourites which I find pretty tedious.
