I've recorded this programme and it's definitely one I'm going to keep. It's mostly artists featured in the 'Mar de Musicas' festival in southern Spain. It says a lot about contemporary Spain and Mexico and that's why it's worth studying and even cherishing.

Towering over the first half of the programme were Tinariwen with 'Matadjem Yinmixan' and I thought of Andy at that point and how much we miss him.

However my discovery of the night was Lila Downs the Mexican star singer. There were two tracks from her: 'El Relampago' at the top of the programme and 'La Bamba' both of which were classics.

In the second half of the show after I'd got over  Tinariwen, was the magnificent Carlos do Carmo with 'Casa do Fado' and Los de Abajo with 'El Indio'.

So I'd say that this was an important show and worthy of close attention for all lovers of Spanish culture, which is what I am rapidly becoming under the guidance of our Lucy.

hi whs

I'm listening to all of Lucy's progs - gradually - but I miss the diversity of AK. Fortunately I've got loads of Andy's old progs recorded which I can listen to as well.
