More fine entertainment from Lucy. She told us that she spent her
teenage years in Greece and that memories came flooding back when she
played Oi Konitopouloi singing 'Xorepsete Xorepsete'.

The session tonight was based on the recent World Routes special on
Cuba. The group Ballet Folklorico de Trinidad (in Cuba) were never
less than interesting with their simple percussion and vocal harmony
combination. The other featured artist Orquesta Acierto Juvenil were
great and contributed one of the tracks of the night in 'Angoa'.

Of the rest of the programme my favourite was Salim Fergani
and 'Llegada la Noche'. It had an arabic flavour and the style
originated in Moorish Spain many centuries ago.

I commend to you this programme. Lucy is coming into her own - a
broadcaster with excellent taste.

This seems an odd situation with Andy Kershaw. Received the latest issue of Songlines magazine for which he writes a column and the editorial states that he has asked for a break from writng the column and will be back in the new year. No mention of illness, in fact it states that he has joined the Isle of Man lifeboat crew ! And I wouldn't have thought producing that short column would be a particularly arduous task. Interesting that next week's Radio Times gives up on the "standing in for Andy Kershaw" blurb and just bills the Lucy Duran show.
