My picks of the night were Olivia Ruiz with 'J'Traine des pieds'; and
King Sunny Ade with 'Sunny Te De'.

I must admit that I was also impressed with Eliza Gilkyson - the
Lucinda Williams soundalike - and 17 Hippies were good for a laugh.

One thing I liked about Charlie Gillett is that he wasn't afraid to
say that this track is great but the rest of the album doesn't quite
match up to it. That's a good policy to adopt and may all DJs take
note.

I've got to say this. I love the theme tune to 'Through the Night'. I
always tag it on to the end of my recordings.

It seems that 'World Music' is your personal, private fiefdom! I am replying at least in part so you don't have to continue talking to yourself q;o)

I heard CG for the first time on Monday, and was impressed with the choice of music. I see you have an earlier post that AK & LD should swap jobs. Well I'm going to instigate the Kershaw Heresy and say that I don't especially miss AK, and that LD & CG can alternate permanently on a Monday evening, SFAIAC.

So there!

Thanks for replying. You've boosted my ratings anyway.

I do miss Andy terribly!

I miss his wit and his funny interviews with guest musicians. You know the ability to make someone laugh is priceless.

Andy is going through some kind of grieving process right now and that takes time.  Let's hope that he can come to terms with what has happened sooner rather than later.

I want to add my voice and say I miss Andy too. Charlie Gillet and Lucy Duran are both excellent broadcasters,  but really very "Radio 3" and, dare I say it, middle class. Andy injects a very welcome note of life into the refined R3 ambience.

I suppose it is a blessing that there doesn't seem to have been a full scale tabloid feeding frenzy, (later...oh, just got the link to Daily Mail interview with his mother, via the Yahoo group) It would be nice if there was some way well wishers could express some support and hope for his return, if not directly to him, at least to the BBC.
