As others have already pointed out it's ironic that last Saturday's programme included an item about the World Conference on Music and Censorship in Istanbul, when the BBC is currently censoring (not too strong a word I believe) any attempts to discuss this or any other edition of World Routes on the Radio 3 message boards.

I didn't know that Tinariwen are being pushed as a "rock band", doesn't affect my liking their music.

Yeah! I'm with you Andy.

I think the current system in operation on the BBC Messageboards is very one dimensional and restrictive. Also they have not exactly been very forthcoming about the reasons for the heavy bias in favour of certain classical music programmes. I believe that they are cowardly in that they dare not discuss their thinking in public. All their attempts at explanation have been pretty disingenuous to say the least.
