I have to redecorate one room in a house, paint it, put furniture etc. I went to three shops today with my friends. My friends are good, almost professional designers. One has a sisiter and friends that design houses, the other loved it all her love. I was so tired and I don't like to think about decorations, colours.
I have to do it while TP is out for conference (three days). They told me they will help to paint the room. I rather be practising and not chosing colours for the room. I have 6 or 7 brochures to look at the colours.
I will have to pull myself together and look, but first I want to practice. I love my practice.

I remember Mary was decorating a room and now it is my turn.

I sympathise, t-p. I wasn't even doing the painting myself, and it still drove me mad. The colour I chose looks different from what I expected, from the square foot I painted from the sample pot. I've got used to it now, and even quite like it. (It's sort of terra-cotta.)

I am thinking to paint it in two colors: light coffee for the upper half of the room, darker coffee for the lower part of the room. There is a mould in the middle and we are going to wait to decide should it be light or dark color.
I like terra cotta color. It is an earth colour.
One of the girls is very good, has experience with decoration. I am lucky she has nothing to do at the moment. The other one has good eyes, she is a doctor (family doctor).
We were looking for a single bed. We want white color bed and a table to have make up etc. There are few other things to buy.
They know how to paint and it is better to be with friends talking etc while painting. It is a small room.

The extension of the house is a bigger problem, but we don't want to do it this year.

Even if one doesn't do it himself decisions and construction workers etc is such a scary prospect, but  we have to do it.
I hope you are comfortable in your house and new decoration. It is such a good feeling to like one's house. At the moment we are a little bit like camping (not settled). Who can sette down now days I don't know.

  • First we had an intermittent fault on the indicators on the van
  • Then the bottom part of the (house) back door fell apart (chronic rot)
  • Yesterday I went out to the van and found we had a FLAT tyre
Not being a very mechanical bear, I couldn't figure out how to get the spare tyre off the van, but I got up at 5.30am and finally got the wheel changed. Then a very nice mechanic fixed the flat and told me we need new brake pads.
Does anybody know where to get free money?  Embarrassed

Kitty,
Is there any chance to have friends in that place? It takes time and luck to meet good people.
But there is a saying: don't look for 100 rubles, but 100 friends.
It is much easier to live if one has friends. I know things will sort themselves some how with the door and the car. But sometimes it is just too much.

About TP helping I can only say that it is better if some people don't help because they know absolutely nothing on the subject, get too excited, worried etc On the other hand we (three girls) can have a good time chatting. At least this is what I think at the moment.
There are some things TP is brilliant in, but it is not in any painting of any room that you want to engage him. If you combine that with my impracticality it is multiplied three fold. But the girls combined effect on the room is much better.
It is not a big job.
But may be I am wrong. We should wait and see. The other solution would be to hire some one to do it. However, the minus of that is in fact that it is very difficult to find people now aspecially for a small job. I would have to beg and bribe them (pay more) to come at all.

tonybob,
Welcome back. We missed you. I did not know you went on a holiday. I did not know what happen and why you don't come anymore.
It is nice to chat and play here. It is easier to take any work or anything when you can share it with us.
After vocations it is very common not to want to go back, but then after a while things settle down.
Welcome back, tonybob.

They are fantiastic pictures, tomybob.
Imagine that we are not going anywhere this year (beside a conference). The memory there are to treasure and to remember to make one happy. I try to think about pleasant things more and more. The more I am in happy room (happy thoughts) the better it is.

Welcome back tonyb! Your absence has been noticed Kiss Always a bit of a shock coming from  carefree bliss to reality. Although I`ve never worked out why `bliss` can`t be reality. Except sometimes, it can be  ....  Good to see you back. <hug>

No broadband on Tuesday morning and phone dead, I rang BT from mobile and reported it. Had heard nothing by this morning and phone still dead so rang again - from phone box (free) instead of mobile (not free). After going through about 15 different options including a test on the line which it said was OK I finally got to speak to a real person who said that repair had been carried out at exchange and line was OK. I said that phone still dead so he arranged for engineer to visit tomorrow but it'll cost me if fault's my side of their box. Came home again and tried broadband - and it worked!! but phone still completely dead. Took phone round to my nephew's and tried it there, worked OK. Dunno what's going on and I haven't cancelled the engineer since fault must be with them as far as I can see. He/she's coming some time between 8 & 1 tomorrow, so I'll have to get up really early and stay in and wait. At least I'm back online, phone doesn't really matter too much since people can ring my mobile if necessary.

Andy, watch out for BT on this. I went through a similar thing recentlly  I was told that it was an external fault and there would be no charge. However, the engineer stepped over my front door, thereby costing me £118 (call out charge). He changed the socket, saying it was the wrong type (Huh, It was fitted by them a year previously). The whole bill ended up at nearly £250. However I contested it and, if youi have not been advised by BT of the potential cost, then they have to back down. It took a fight, but they did.. Don`t let the buglers win on this. The barstewards are chargng people an arm and leg if a piece of BT equipment goes wrong!  Angry Angry Angry

Andy, You have my symphathe. I know how it is. Many of us were in the same situation.
I don't know what company is good. We have smart and they seems ok at the moment (for how long).

I take it like this: one has to pay for his good time and I have to pay for broadband working some times with a lots of inconviniences and irritations at other times.
