There's only room for MISERY in this corner of the Coffee Bar! (Just typed 'bra'...)
Was this what you had in mind rm? Or perhaps you prefer it with less milk?

On the topic of this optician-chat; I cooked dinner for a friend and his sunglasses-marketing flatmate, who confirmed all of the statistics essentially (giving, though, a manufacturing cost of 3-4 euro (including lenses though, because they're sunglasses mostly), but a larger net-profit of 70%). Lovely fellow.

Oh dear, that wasn't grumpy at all! Sorry! So that's why the stats are skewed! There's only room for MISERY in this corner of the Coffee Bar! (Just typed 'bra'...) OK, shall I go and be grumpy in the Happy Room, would that help?

my new Klaus Huber CD Which one would that be, Biroc? I've just acquired two, funnily enough: an old Wergo one (a violin concerto with a name that I can't remember, but it has dot-dot-dots in it), and a brand new choral Huber-and-Gesualdo one which I don't think is out yet! hh - definitely Tippett 3! Yes!! Sorry for the late reply...it's a Grammon CD called Soliloquia Sancti Aurelii Augustini...exceedingly fine stuff. I think the CD you have is the one with the violin concerto Tempora on it...the "...inwendig voller Figur..." is an orchestra and choir piece...don't know the Gesualdo/Huber CD, but sounds most fitting. Any details?

On top of all the travel impossibilities today, when I got to RAH I was seated not far away from a gentleman (and I don't give a toss whether he reads this or not) with a portable radio. He proceeded to blast the dreaded CFM out of it at full volume. He also stank like a farmyard.

Just kidding, but he doesn't sound like a gentleman. You were seated then? Perhaps you would have been better off promenading.

That's really a bit hard on top of all your travel problems, eruanto. I reckon you earn this week's award for Heroism in Attending the Proms in the Face of Adversity . Hope you got home all right without being attacked by vampire rabbits.

hh, that's a decision best not made late at night ! Good job that I made it at 4:55pm then! But I should say that the bin is metaphorical. I never throw anything to do with composition away...

I suppose I haven's really got anything to complain about - no floods yet! - but is it reasonable to be sitting here at just after half-past five on July 21st with the light and heating on? The rain it raineth every day, as Shakespeare (who knew everyting) said.
I think I'll put on my CD of Noye's Fludde.

When was St Swithin's day? After things went so well, I can't quite find my way into the next section of the piece...

When was St Swithin's day?
15 July apparently. Expect the rain to finish on 24 August. I always thought SSD was earlier. I'm sure there was something in the news a few weeks back..... Tommo
