I've just got to the end of it. It doesn't get any better.
George and Strina both take extremely cool-headed stances, and form the main points of sanity in what is a bit of a pantomime. ( I'll consider my reply when I get home tonight, and it may drag up some thoughts from when the first debacle occurred...)

I am going to try to read that political thread, though it sounds scary. Meanwhile I want to say the following: Our modern life has many problems. How to accomodate such a diverse preferences and desires. I am listening to the course about this now. I don't expect that philosophy will come up with an answer. I don't remember who said that if you don't like what you see, change your view point.

It's all such a pity as well; I was ELATED at what appeared to be a big and rather unprecedented Ian/Alistair/&c. love-in on the commodification thread last week, that people were understanding each other quite well on that thread more than they had ever before, and I thought "Oh, fantastic!".

Ho and Ho again!. I am a little grumpy. Having just returned, from an extended visit overseas, I was appalled to find these Boards closed this morning until further notice. I'm now somewhat baffled that we are now open for business. A swift glance around tells me that the "political" problem that was encountered a couple of times on the Old BBC Boards has emerged here. I have no personal interest at all in present day politics in relation to "music" and it makes me grumpy when the unnecessary idiocies, sometimes involving a personal agenda, are sometimes expressed. It's good that we are "open" again and I trust that we will remain so in the spirit that existed when this site was created. Cheers!

Thank you Soundwave, your message and others here today have made me less grumpy I clearly remember the spirit of the new R3ok and wondering what Michael and I let ourselves in for (knowing all along what problem would arise and skipping round it more than once) I intend to stay on here and by keeping some of you together hope to make the grumpy happy and the happy happier! Grump grump grump.
It was stressful, and time-consuming - the Sunday ironing took twice as long as normal and in the evening my wife stomped off to the pub without me and I never did get out even for a pint grump grump John W

The reference to pinhole is in comparison to the diffraction of light one can create with one, similar to the light surrounding the image of a star.
