In Holmes's rooms, a baffled Doctor Watson leaned towards Holmes who was engrossed in thought, staring at his IBM* laptop.
"The curious case of the elongated anteater, eh, Watson? Have you noticed that the stray moggy that loiters on the corner has also become elongated?"
*IBM - invented by Marconi

I think it's all a plot of Moriarty's, Watson, he's trying to shrink us into insignificance. Just to confound him, here's the aardvark in all his glory: Oh no, he's turned red!!

I suspect that "Maximum width external avatar:" has been set to 100px in Admin. I think it's best to set maximum height to eg 100px but leave maximum width as 0 ie no limit. That way images don't get squashed L to R.
John please note!

Yes Andy, I have tinkered with the avatar sizing. Some members images looked squashed and have improved with the 100 x 120 dimensions, Mort for example but others not so I can try the width=0 but won't some be linking to massive images on the net? Only one way to find out: Gamma rays on, Yobba rays on, width=0 ...... !

That's better. The forum just generates HTML code for your browser to interpret - if you just specify one of height/width to a browser, it will shrink the image down keeping the correct proportions. If you specify both, it will shrink it to what you specify, hence my square image gets squashed L to R. The SMF generated code for my avatar display is: <img style="width: 120px; height: 120px;" src=" http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/andyd.music/aardvark-blue-550x550.jpg" alt="" class="avatar" border="0" height="120"> which doesn't look particularly good code to me since it's using style= and height= - I've checked out what happens if the code specifies both but with different values and the height="120" is totally ignored in Firefox, might work differently in other browsers. However users of the forum are stuck with this. Mort's original is squashed btw http://www.friendsofcannabis.com/photos/anjelica-adams.jpgNB t_i_n's Schubert pic now looks correct, it's always been squashed before. The only prob which could arise is if someone uses an original which is panoramic in its width, but no-one is at the moment. Sorry this should be in the "Boring Old Techie Room"

Spent all of yesterday aching, shaking, shivering and miserable with flu-like symptoms which fortunately only lasted 24 hours but ruined the day for me. Up and about today but feeling weak and feeble. Suppose I should be grateful it didn't last longer as I have family travelling down from Orkney to stay here for the week. Need to clean the house - no energy for it - though I never do have energy for cleaning!

That's nice of you, MabelJane! Thank you. I hope you stay feeling bright.
I've got family coming as well, and the house certainly needs attention! I keep thinking that I really must get a cleaner, but in my experience cleaners clean too much, with lots of chemicals, and also I would have to tidy up. So I don't.

Sorry Mary that you are bored with rugby.
Here in South Wales it is the most important thing, a religion almost, and of course we are hoping the English will get well and truly beaten by the South Africans. Go Bokke!

I'm still in a bad mood. I think it's too much work as I was in again today - 3rd weekend on the trot and I will also have to go in tomorrow.
Still, at least it's the shell show a week today!
