I don't like being reminded I'm getting old
Then don't believe it in the first place ! I don't ! It just creeps up on you - I thought at first it was the floorboards creaking when I got out of bed, but soon realised it was me.

Merely corroborative detail, intended to give artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative.

As I have been told in no uncertain terms, on other threads, that I am grumpy I thought I would come back to this thread..... grump...grump....grump.....grump Strange, I never thought of myself as grumpy but apparently that is the case. A

That's a selective statistic, John, and hardly representative of A's considerable output. In any case, most of those were in reaction to something which might well render most of us a tad on the down side....

My life makes me smile John... I am not grumpy or unhappy except when not allowed to say what I think. I suppose being a retired teacher makes me expect to have my comments at least accepted without abuse being thrown.
Anyway, I don't care about all that today... I really don't . I have my orchestra rehearsal tonight... real music ... yeh!!

It's very sweet of you to say so, A, but I don't think I quite qualify for plaudits yet: I'm just a beginner, and it's a very steep (and somewhat busy) learning curve right now.

(incidentally, it may interest you to hear that Tristan and Isolde are still drunkenly wandering the streets of Edinburgh at the weekend rehearsing their marital difficulties. I overheard them walking through the street at 1:30pm today)
Not just an opera, but a soap to boot, hh. Sounds to me as if they might be Figaro and Susannah, twenty years on. Are you sure they're not called Amy and Blake, hh? (Oh no, he's inside at the moment, isn't he.)
