Help! I've become involved in a nasty Ebay dispute. I'm being accused of not paying for an item. Since I bought it with Paypal, BuyIt Now, I am utterly puzzled. I ALWAYS pay promptly, have 100% positive feedback, and my Paypal account details say I've paid it - I got an online receipt for it! What do I do? Being an honest sort of person, I find it very distressing - and I don't want to lose my good reputation for something that MUST be a mistake - but I haven't managed to convince them so far.

Have you given them the Paypal transaction number? Has the amount actually left your account? There's just a chance it could be a Paypal glitch, Mary.

Yeah, check the transaction number, and you could send an email to paypal to ask them to confirm that things went through if you're still worried.

Thank you - I have just phoned Paypal (ages of waiting on a premium rate number, nice music though), eventually spoke to someone whom I could barely understand - not unusual on helplines - and they are going to email the seller to confirm that I've paid. I'm probably over-reacting. I'm just not used to being accused like this! It must be some sort of Paypal glitch, as you say, or some muddle with the seller. I use Ebay a lot, but feel rather put off by this. However, I have Paypal on my side now.

I know how scary it can be though Mary. Some people have had some very bad experiences with Paypal.

That would have scared me more than ever, Kittybriton, if I hadn't just had an email from the seller to say they have shipped the item. Paypal sent me a copy of the email they sent to the seller, saying that I had paid, and that the payment was already visible in the seller's account, so they had to send the item.....of course, I've yet to see whether it actually arrives. This was a big dealer in all sorts of things. In my experience the best sellers are nice men or women in country towns selling off odds and ends their parents had owned when alive. A vast majority of my transactions have been absolutely fine.

Indeed, I too would have posted on the Grumpy thread if I had received those, as I ordered some peg paste last week

I did not know such a thing exists. I can not imagine what kind of sounds it makes. May be it is like xilophone.

It's more of a twang t-p, not a wooden sound like the xylophone. The prongs don't vibrate too well so it is a fairly dead metallic thud !!

May be it is like xilophone. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7QGhXEU6gkCloser to a dull, detuned glockenspiel than a xylophone. It's more of a twang t-p, not a wooden sound like the xylophone. The prongs don't vibrate too well Well that's surely a matter of expectation. I find their vibrations to be highly satisfactory! indeed, I should be quite disappointed should I ever hear a crisp chime when I strum my mbira, I imagine.. so it is a fairly dead metallic thud !! I would characterise the sound as being extremely colourful and intimate myself (yes, I'm feeling rather defensive. My mbira only has seven metal bits, alas, but I can shift them about and retune them much more easily than I had anticipated, which is quite nice.) The bells are a bit lame though.

Also known as the likembé or thumb piano. Try Konono No 1's album Congotronics if you want to be blown away by the sound of them amplified using home made equipment. http://www.crammed.be/konono/

Thank you, Andy and increpatio. I found it very enjoyable. It is too bad I could not listen for long. The sound makes me calm and happy. It does change the state of one's consciousness.

Sorry inc, no offence intended, I have only come across these in schools so I expect they have been pranged to death so have lost any vibrations they may have had originally. The ones I heard and have tried have sounded pretty dire IMHO !! A
