So....erm...., should I be posting in sign language, then, ladies?
(Or just at a much lower volume?)

Quieter?
Mightn't this be a better/more annoying way to be quieter?
Bugger. What's happened to my sleep-cycle, guys?

Perhaps the chain's come off. Or you've got a puncture in your rear tyre. It's scant consolation, but mine's still adrift after the weekend....

I love silence - you can actually hear yourself think. I agree absolutely - silence has become an incredibly rare commodity, but I think it is absolutely necessary to achieve a real balance in life. There is no worse pollutant than constant noise. When I visited Tokyo a few years ago, I was enormously impressed by the fact that even in the heart of that vast, bustling city there were remarkably quiet temple gardens where one could simply sit peacefully and reflect. I'm sure it's something that we in the West could learn from.

Churches are open during the day for just this purpose. There is that odd effect that I can here the noise and traffic roar outside, but you are aware of the silence in the space inside. External quiet spaces are a bit tricky to come by. The courtyard of St Vedast Foster Lane in the City of London opposite St Pauls is kept deliberately quiet. Although acting as a useful sandwich consuming space at lunchtime, silence is still requested.

Well, it's finally happening - Ofsted are inspecting us on Monday and Tuesday next week. Aaaaaargh!!! Loads of marking, filing, displays etc to get up to date. See you all Tuesday night for a celebratory/drowning-of-sorrows drink!

Merely corroborative detail, intended to give artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative.

See you all Tuesday night for a celebratory/drowning-of-sorrows drink! Good luck, MJ. I know exactly how you're feeling - we've been expecting one since September but they still haven't materialised. Hopefully, they'll see that the SEF's correct and there are appropriate actions in the SIP. I don't know how much they actually get into classrooms to observe lessons nowadays. I'm sure there's plenty to do, so crack on and we'll see you 'on the other side'! I've a fair bit of marking/assessment to catch up on (the joys of KS2 SATs revision!) plus an application for the Acting DHT job to fill in this evening!

MJ, we will all have a virtual drowning of sorrows with you. Best of luck with those people. I feel for you MJ, because my 2nd eldest sister is a head Teacher at a local primary schoo and my brother in law is head of maths at one of the secondary schools. So I do have some idea of what you be going through. I might have an idea also, because with those visits of of HCC and Helth Department officials, announced and unannounced, so i suppose its something like that.

Good luck MJ, I have a marathon paperwork day tommorrow-dawn till mid-evening potentially, to satisfy the bureaucratic`deities of the ironically-named Supporting People. But when its done, holiday and scratching away at the`staves. Hope there's some alcohol/ comestibles ahead when you're through it.

Well, it's finally happening - Ofsted are inspecting us on Monday and Tuesday next week. Aaaaaargh!!! We have the equivalent in HE, or at least used to. Last time, I remember meeting up with a colleague the day before the visit with multiple hairdryers and space heaters in order to try to dry out one of the main teaching room carpets. It's a bit Marx Brothers, the whole business. Good luck, MJ.

Hmm, I remember someone sneaking one of those Health & Efficiency magazines into school, this would have been about 1965, before I knew what 'gay' was. Oddly, the first heterosexual magazine I saw then was called Men Only which only had photos of women. That was our sex education in the early 1960s
