Ho and GRUMP!!!!  Several weeks ago my computer froze.   Switching it on only lit the screen with the XP page.  No further movement was possible.  It was taken for repair.  Upon return, it worked for about 30 minutes and then developed what I believe is called an Application Hang (or some such).  I managed to get onto Hotmail but that was all.  My usual e-mail was up the creek and I couldn't get past my server's window that, incidentally appeared three times on the screen- an inch or so below each other.  I tried everything.  It went away again for repair and, upon return, worked for an hour before seizing up again.  During that hour Microsoft informed me that there were "Updates" waiting to download.  Down they came - 91 of them.  A mystery because I kept up-to-date every week.  Following a loud verbal explosion, the cursed object went off again and was returned yesterday.  It is still working, so, I regret to inform you all that I am BACK.  Still seething slightly and baffled.  Incidentally, the "Updates" did download but the machine will not "install" them.  Aaaarrggghhh!
Cheers.

I know how you feel.  I got so fed up with mine I went to PC World and got a new one.  £479 with Vista.  My old one was going to cost over £200 to repair so I just thought soddit.  Roll Eyes

New one is so much faster that I really wish I hadn't persevered with the old one for so long.  Much better - well so far so good.... Roll Eyes
