I do understand Richard. I also know your main job is composition and performance ... yes I call it that too .. I just fear that the teaching is 'killing you'. ..and I do have experience of this, I only have to mention National Curriculum and Government initiatives for you to know I empathise with you. Come on Thursday, I look forward to seeing you. A

I've just remembered that I've missed a stage in generating my fonts, which explains why it's not working... Time to download the documentation again and hope that there's an older version still available (I printed off the last one but it's in Durham).

I am sure you are capable to fix that hh. It would be more tragic for me.
I have to go to rehearsal with soloists. It is raining and I don't want to go. I know that when I get there I will be glad I came.

well all that higher education stuff seems to have fulfilled the "grumpy" category for a few people anyway!

I need to read up on the background re: Richard's situation, but I'd just like toregister my annoyance if the powers that be have had a go at the Weigold-Riley-Barrett caucus at Brunel, which seemed to me a bit of a beacon for how depts should be run, judging from its outreach bits Don't get the idea the whole thing is falling apart at the seams, Marbs, it's just me really. It's a privilege and an inspiration to work with those people. But the system that encloses it all is run by beancounters, and while music doesn't eat many beans it doesn't really cough any up either.

I'm trying to sort out the encoding for this font from memory (since the only manual I can find is for the new version which seems to have some significant differences) and I think I've worked it out (while cleaning my cooker) but also realised that I can probably get my original encoding file from the hard drive of my old computer (which is still at work) tomorrow. A bit late to worry about that now... I'm also rather frustrated by a few inconsistent elements of my notational practice in this piece. It's too late to change them now but I have a feeling it's a demon that will have to be stared down before the piece gets sent to anyone else.

...and in cleaning the oven I've managed to open up the wound I inflicted upon my finger the other day. Most vexing. It seems to have all clotted but it looks a bit grim again. Bother bother bother.

I usually just wash it again and desinfect with soda desolved in cold water. The finger will be like new tomorrow morning. May be people know other ways, but I am usually doing this sort of thing. It has to be clean and it will heal.

Sorry t-p but I cut a huge chunk out of the nail and gashed a reasonable hole in my finger. There's no way it'll be healed tomorrow no matter how much I clean it! Unless there's a miracle...

Then at least it will start to heal. The most important thing is to clean it and distract yourself from thinking about it. Do you have a medical plaster? If not it is ok too. Just squeeze your finger so that blood will stop.
May be Morticia will come and tell some other way of dealing with this. I usually doing this kind of things.

Oh it stopped bleeding ages ago. It stopped bleeding before I noticed that it was bleeding again! I'm giving up with this font business for tonight. I'll see if I can get a copy of the manual from my old hard drive tomorrow. Frustrating that I've got so far and just can't remember the (IIRC) extremely simple stage of importing my own encoding pages. BAH.

This is more of a peeve than a grump. I've taken some time off from work because I was feeling a bit tired and rundown. A few extra hours of sleep will sort that out, I thought. Sleep? Hah! My body clock still insists on waking me up at 6 o'clock. I'd have hoped by the second week it would have adjusted just a tad. Nope So sitting here bleary eyed and still tired. Sigh. Bet you next week my body adjusts to Annual Leave time Rats!

Welcome to my world. If I want to sleep it is usually time to get up. If I get up you can be sure that I could sleep until at least half a day. What a bummer.
