Hello everyone,
Forgive the commercial, but I just wanted to draw your attention to my new documentary on trumpet legend Maurice Murphy, who has just retired after 30 years as principal trumpet of the London Symphony Orchestra. It is available only on the LSO's website : lso.co.uk/mauricemurphy

It was a wonderful project to put together; I don't think I've ever made a programme about someone more loved and admired than Maurice. And I was lucky to secure some great guests, including : film composer John Williams, who talks about his work with Maurice on films like Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Superman; Michael Tilson Thomas who recalls a great story about Maurice playing Mahler 5 in Yokohama; Richard Hickox, who had the honour of conducting Maurice's final appearance as principal with the LSO; and there are lots of generous and moving contributions from old LSO colleagues Rod Franks, Gerry Ruddock, Nigel Gomm, Gerry Newson and Patrick Harrild, as well as Maurice's son Martin and wife Shirley.

I do hope you'll be able to hear it; you can download or listen from the site. It's 40 minutes long but shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes to download.

Best wishes,

Tommy Pearson

Good stuff Tom, and good for you for pitching and making the thing. MM is for many i think the Beckham of brass playing-/orchestral playing generally: unassuming to the point of apparent artlessness but absolutely bang on musically. looking forward to this one.
