I suppose that, nowadays, some bright spark will remark that this work is woefully lacking in carbon footprint, or whatever it is. Curiously, I was minded to think briefly on that piece only yesterday evening when the comparative peace in my garden was disturbed for some quarter of an hour by four police helicopters circling above. I don't know why they were doing this (still less whether they were manned by string players); it wasn't even as though I'd composed anything yesterday...

Frank Scheffer is a very kind and good documentary maker. I like his films. Just a shame the controller of Dutch television thought it would be wise to abridge Scheffer's documentary about Frank Zappa. Dutch TV is something straight out of hell.
