Hi everyone,
Forgive me for a blatant sell, but I wanted to tell you about my site, Stage and Screen Online, which I launched last year following Stage and Screen's departure from Radio 3's schedules.

We feature comprehensive interviews with the biggest names in film music and musical theatre and you can listen/download all files for free. We also have blogs and articles, plus regular competitions. As with the radio show, Edward Seckerson covers musical theatre and I take care of film music.

There are 20 full interviews on the site at present, including Michael Nyman, Patrick Doyle, David Arnold, Michael Feinstein, Michael Ball, Don Black, Anne Dudley, Maurice Jarre and Gustavo Santaolalla. The latest, just posted, is an interview, with music clips, with conductor Rumon Gamba who talks about his extensive series of film music, recordings on the Chandos label. Music heard and discussed includes scores by Alan Rawsthorne, Clifton Parker, Vaughan Williams, Malcolm Arnold, Richard Rodney Bennett, Georges Auric and Erich Korngold.

I hope some of you will come and visit - it's all free!

Best wishes,

This is good news, Tommy.   Smiley

I've just subscribed to your Mailing List and Newsletter.    However, like Dolly Levi, it would be even better to see Edward Seckerson and yourself back where you belong on R3.

The recording of "The Sea Hawk" on Chandos must be one of the most spectacular of 2007.    I look forward to Rumon Gamba's comments online.

Excellent news, Tommy! I`ve just signed up, although I second Stanley`s sentiments 100 percent re. the Tommy and Edward shaped spaces on R3 Cry

All the best to you both with your site.

Thanks for your comments.

Speaking for myself, it's HIGHLY unlikely I'll ever be on Radio 3 again. But that's fine by me, I'm putting my energies into other things - including the Stage and Screen Online website.

We now have an exclusive interview with Stephen Sondheim on the site. Next week there will be an interview with Mark Fitz-Gerald, who reconstructed and arranged the complete film score for "Odna" by Shostakovich which is now available on Naxos.

Great stuff, Tommy!  I'll be clicking-in for that for sure!  Smiley
