Merely corroborative detail, intended to give artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative.

Michael, I pinched my Avatar from the net. Could that be a problem with copyright?

Flay, if you load you avatar into something like "Paint" and shrink it to 26% of its current dimensions, then save the result with a modified filename, then load that up, it will only occupy around 2kB, yet show at approximately its current size on the board.

Blimey, Bryn - I go and reduce my avatar to about 30 bytes greyscale, and you swap yours to a bloomin huge 137955 bytes!  Where's the justice there?   Undecided  Is that a picture of you on "Carry on Camping"?   Cheesy

I vas only obeying orders, Flay. It's a link to an off-site image. It also got a bit squashed up, laterally, in the process. So, where do you think it is?

Oh, and I'm in the pink, so to speak, in case you had not worked that out. Wink

Within the last 24 hours mine had changed again, too, so I linked to this current image on the another site altogether. That, I gather,  is the recommended 'solution'.

http://www.s-buckingham.supanet.com/

I haven't the first idea how to copy a picture from anywhere, but on the JREF MBs, when there was a discussion about avatars, I said I would like a tap0dancing one (I do a weekly tap class) and one of the experienced posters did it in about ten minutes - found the picture and posted it, which I think is very clever. Anyway, I would quite like that on this site too if possible, so waving my white stick and putting on  my helpless little old lady act (!!) I am wondering whether any computer experts can help? Absolutely no rush of course, and the picture might be too big.

My website is extremely unexciting I'm afraid, and what is there has been done by my computer teacher, but I hope to add a line or two during the next few years!

My avatar has changed (yet again). It was not one from Photobucket because it came from a file on my PC. Why has the avatar situation not been sorted yet? I am really getting pissed off with this keep happening. I am beginning to think this site is unsecure. I don't get this problem on other websites, so why is it only happening here?

Scott,

You haven't actually followed the instructions on the announcement.  As you have said, you UPLOADED it to the site, which was what we advised you NOT to do.  The copy of the announcement is below:

Quote
I'm not sure if anyone would be interested in hearing them, though the advice right now is to LINK to an avatar that isn't on the main photbucket account (which anyone can change the photos on), and to not 'upload' them to the board.  Due to the host  hosting many boards, I fear that our avatars are being overwritten accidentally.

I'm sorry Michael but I have not been online for a couple of days, hence why I missed the "announcement". I'm not on here 24/7.

Thanks for the info.

I'm sorry to come across a bit touchy, Michael. I'm just not feeling myself at the moment.
