In the last 3 or 4 days I've been having a gradually increasing problem with access during the afternoon and evening. Reaching the first thread is fine but I have to wait an age to reach the second. Making a post at 7.30 this evening took me 12 minutes. Yesterday 3 attempted posts disappeared. This afternoon I had to give up reaching the board altogether. I don't believe it's my computer since I have no problem in the earlyish morning, late morning or for that matter, the middle of the night. And for purposes of comparison, the other place is annoyingly so available.
Be grateful if anyone can signal whether or not the problem is unique to me. Thanks !

Of course - that post took about 3 seconds. Sod's law in operation.

Hi autoharp,
I've had some problems today navigating round this site, worse than usual. I often have a total internet slowness but today it was just this site.
It might just be the php host doing maintenance - I've noticed the sponsered banners were often empty today so they could be doing major maintenance which slows things down, and the free sites like ours tend to get the brunt of any disruptions.
I don't know anything about that side of things I'll have to ask Michael, though he hasn't been around much lately and hasn't answered other PM's I've sent him this week.

I've been complaining about this since Saturday but did anyone listen then? This afternoon I had to give up because the computer just kept on waiting and waiting and waiting for the site... Even now, I notice that the icons that appear above this posting box haven't yet all appeared and are doing so very slowly. But it's patchy behaviour and sometimes it's all right.

That posting above took almost ten minutes to go through. I find it quite common to to wait for over a minute for a page to appear so if I'm not around over the next few days or so that will be why.

It's not your computer, autoharp, I've been having the same problems, and I think Tony was having them (as was I) a few days ago as well. This board occasionally becomes extremely slow, so that pages take forever to refresh, posts either take an age to be submitted, or do not do so at all. Any idea why this might be, Michael or John W?

Ho! I've just struggled from various directions for ten minutes to get onto this site. It's happened before but has never taken so long. Other sites are fine - I've whizzed round half a dozen or so. Cheers

John, will you communicate to Michael that these immense delays are just not on! Is it possible to get a new server, perhaps?

Ian, I think that, to some extent, it may be a case of "beggars can't be choosers".

April 5. The access is good this morning. May be it was fixed or the problem solved itself. I notice my curser is winking. Is it normal? I don't like to complain anyway. I usually wait until the problem is fixed somehow. There is a Russian proverb: Don't rock the boat (as it can top over).

It was frustrating, sure. But hardly a disaster! I've experienced those sorts of delays many times - all down to busy server. Onwards and upwards, r3ok

It has been a bit slow for the last week or so, but I've generally found that by refreshing a page I can get there without waiting around for too long. Certainly not had these 10-minute waits to submit posts ...

John, will you communicate to Michael that these immense delays are just not on! Is it possible to get a new server, perhaps? Ian, Michael will read this thread. I don't think you should get so worked up about these things, it's only a messageboard and not your ebay bid page When it's running slow you could do something more useful like clean the house/flat, phone a friend, play some music John W
