I think that we've got to be pragmatic here and Mellor's tendency to stick his neck out has its uses. Since he used to (?) appear\on R5 discusing soccer, it wouldnt have been
inconceivable for him to have fetched up at 3 as part of RW's 'plan'- the resulting dialogue might have been interesting. The thing aboutmusical Tories is that they are the shires, which seem to start as near to the cutting edge as W5 and the English Chamber Orch. I'm referring to small'c' rather than big 'c' Conservatism here, but the one fosters the "broad church" of the other.

I remember a Private Eye cartoon years ago, with a woman standing in front of the TV and calling out to her husband in another room "Darling, come quickly, that David Mellor is not on the telly."

I switched over to some of David Mellor's programme yesterday and I would just like to compiment him because he played a track from Arcadi Volodos's Liszt CD, which I thinkk was very discerning of him!

I only caught a few minutes today and was pleased to hear a movement from RVW's Concerto for Tuba, and Mr Mellor explained much about the background history of the concerto.
