Coming up in a couple of hours:

2.36am
Penderecki, Krzysztof (b 1933): Concerto grosso for three cellos and orchestra
Ivan Monighetti, Adam Klocek, Kazimierz Koslacz (cello)
Warsaw National Philharmonic Orchestra
Antoni Wit (conductor)

Don't know it, but it looks interesting. Have set the scheduler to record it. One for RB, perhaps?

Meant to mention it. Bryn, but set timer for it too, so there should be an ALAC sitting on the hard drive.

Just a heads-up that the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra Prom has a live airing on BBC4 at 19.30 tonight, with a repeat at 02.10 tomorrow morning. Also, Maestro has a re-run at 22.00 on the same channel, followed by John Cale from St Luke's at 23.30.

Not live as 19:30, Ron. The Prom starts at 19:00, and is live on Radio 3. Wink

You know, sometimes I wish I didn't always read 'Ongoing' as 'Ong oing'.

I've never read it that way, George, but I'm not sure I'll ever again manage to avoid doing* so.

(Oh dear, even 'doing' looks a bit funny now ...)

Looks as if this evening's BBC2 Prom is mainly a rehash of material from the two recent BBC4 outings (Barenboim and Boulez), although seemingly it also includes a discussion with the two of them.

After watching the Proms, I'm listening to this programme on Vaughan-Williams.  It's excellent!  Is anyone else out there enjoying it?

Yes, Milly. I thought it was glorious and just wished it could have been a little longer! I recall a similar journey Stephen Johnson undertook in a radio documentary about Sibelius not so long ago, which was just as good.

I shall definitely listen to it again on the iplayer. They announced that there's another programme on Tuesday during the Proms interval with Stephen Johnson again, so that's another one to mark in the diary.   Smiley

Yes, me too, Milly. An excellent programme. Thanks for drawing attention to it, Stanley.

A fine evening all round on R3.

Yes, a terrific evening, George - and it continues with the Bach Cello Suites on the Late Night Prom.
