There's a few hours yet before it takes effect.

Despite feeling ill, still, I dragged (great choice of word, martle, full marks, gold star, see me after class) myself to the pub earlier to do 'it' one more time. It was wonderful. I sat alone at a table. Everyone was talking about the ban. The spirit of the Blitz prevailed. Knowing and sad smiles were exchanged. I exited the pub (a wonderful, small, friendly, clean, hip and young place which I've been going to for about 15 years) shedding a tear...

Mart, I applaud your effort ce soir in dragging yourself from your sickly truckle bed to give a final fuming performance in public. I have had to confine myself to the disinterested glances of felines i.e. yawn, snore, yawn, snore ,,,,,,,,
Just a thought here, why on earth couldn`t they have made the date for Monday, Instead of stomping all over Sunday lunchtime?

I went to the pub this afternoon and was amazed at the clouds of smoke obscuring half of the premises. When I came home I changed because I stank of cigarettes! Sorry - not going to miss that!

hh, sorry about your clothes (they'll have to wait for your washing machine to get fixed, no doubt); but you don't get it, not being a smoker. Tonight is ours, for the last time. Mwahahahaha!

Well it's the pumpkin hour and officially Sunday, so I toast all smokers, smoking away in your private spaces (Oban 15 yr old).

I was in the Waggon & Horses in Halesowen tonight, a great real ale pub which has had a non-smoking room for some months now. However, I was quite surprised how few people were smoking in the smoking bit of the pub - perhaps they're preparing for tomorrow/today? My clothes smelt surprisingly good when I got home.

Indeed Bryn, and despite my crazy thoughts of going to an all-night joint and puffing right up to the last minute, I instead went to bed at a civilised hour. Only to be woken, bang on 6am, by fireworks!! Grrrr....
