Thanks, IGI (though I must admit that mathematics has never been my strongest point  Embarrassed).

Here's a quartet with a themaic connection:

Tchaikovksy
Purcell
Borodin
Wolf-Ferrari

I can link three at the moment, but can't think of a Wolf-Ferrari princess...

Tchaikovksy – Queen of Spades
Purcell – King Arthur
Borodin – Prince Igor

No royal link here: only the Purcell is incorrect.

Tchaikovksy – Queen of Spades
Purcell – Dido and Aeneas
Borodin – Prince Igor
Wolf-Ferrari – Il Segreto di Susanna

No idea why! The Queen of Spades features a silent appearance by Catherine the Great. Susanna's servant is a silent role.

The Purcell is correct but not the WF, which has a very famous intermezzo, though the work itself is obscure.

Yes, here's a fifth composer to clarify the link:

Berg

Yes, here's a fifth composer to clarify the link:

Berg

Oh, you don't know how little I know any Berg!!

Aeneas is a Trojan prince, we've got Prince Igor, there's a prince in Lulu, Prince Yeletsky in The Queen of Spades...but I can't spot a prince in the Wolf-Ferrari.

Despite your knowledge of Berg, LULU is correct! Here's a sixth composer:

Humperdinck

We're looking at pop artists aren't we!

Tchaikovksy – Queen of Spades
Purcell – Dido and Aeneas
Borodin – Prince Igor
Wolf-Ferrari – The Jewels of the Madonna
Berg – Lulu

with, presumably, Englebert Humperdinck, rather than one of his operas?!

Yes, well done, IGI! Just over an hour to spot it! Can you mention a pop link in a Lortzing opera, as well as one by the obscure Philidor?

Lortzing's Der Wildschutz has a Gretchen (Gretchen Wilson)?

Oh, I didn't know this one! I was thinking of a fairly known work about two men with the same name (the link is a family pop band!).
