Chess pieces? In order of 'value'?

Berio, O King
Bob Dylan, Only a Pawn in Their Game
Rachmaninov, Skupoy rïtsar′ [The Miserly Knight]
Menotti, The Death of the Bishop of Brindisi
Stravinsky, 'Vorona' [The Rook] from Tri pesenki ‘Iz vospominaniyha yunosheskikh godov’ [Three Little Songs ‘Recollections of my Childhood’]

I confess that I've had recourse to Grove for some of these. You can berate me later.

That sounds pretty convincing IGI.  I had started to go down the royalty route, O King by Berio followed by Lunatic Princess by Dylan  Cheesy Cheesy

Well done you!

Gosh. Sounds like you've been Grovin' it the whole night long.

Sorry martle...  Embarrassed
It just sort of leapt out at me.
I was thinking that if it wasn't cards (and there was nothing that made sense for there only to be six if it was), then I was wondering what else it could be.
And I suddenly counted the number of chess pieces...

Oh Bugler.  Very Stern Memo to Self, do not try and cook and post at the same time, you are letting Womankind down by not multi-tasking successfully.

Well done hh.

Exits stage left.

I never did make it back the other evening...too much to do! Well solved, hh!

Here's a quick quartet to connect:

Holst
Mozart
Haas
Ravel

That's Pavel Haas, right, IGI?

And a common word connection?

Haas did Life is a Dog

Zappa

He did Dog Breath Variations on a theme of Ravel and also an exquisite Bolero.

Holst never had a dog and Mozart died before pets were invented.

In other words, I do not know.

It's prob'ly not Georg Friedrich Haas. Maybe it's the guy who bred Hass Avocadoes? NOM!

NOM indeed Turfan, I do enjoy a Hass Avocdo, but I fear fruit is not the answer.

Much as I wish it to be.
