Makes me think of a name for a new drinking haunt - Der Rote Birtwistle?

Brahms drank at The Red Hedgehog.

Born in Kaliště, grew up in Jihlava, a city in the Czech Republic....

A very tricky one, Opilec!  Smiley

After that thorny puzzler, I shall leave you with a reminder of mine:

Couperin
Stockhausen
Chaminade
Josef Strauss

All in the titles, no puns, minimal/no translations needed..quite easy by the standards of the last few days, really!!  Cheesy

Night all.

Well done!  Cheesy It was a little clowning around…

Couperin - L'Arlequine
Stockhausen - Der Kleine Harlekin
Chaminade – Arlequine
Josef Strauss - Harlekin-Polka

Today’s teaser might require a little digging in places, but more composers are lined up to help!  Smiley

Verdi
Schubert
Poulenc
Peterson-Berger

As it's quiet on the Connections front, I'll offer you an extra composer!

Verdi
Schubert
Poulenc
Peterson-Berger
Messiaen

Also, a second puzzle....spot the connection, but with this one you'll need to name the odd one out too:

Tchaikovsky
Saint-Saëns
Stanford
Mendelssohn

Good luck!

Hello Mark

I've been looking at this for a while. Are we looking for  a mnemonic or similar (pace Pace)?

No mnemonics, acrostics or anything like that, Dan, no. In fact, a minimum of digging required... Smiley
P.S. No, there isn't a feathered connection here.

(Same with the second puzzle).

All been a bit quiet here, but it's been 'entertaining' watching events at the other place. Am currently listening to the Wigmore concert I attended on Saturday....Elgar String Quartet at the moment...very good.

Yes, a lot of upheavals and upset t'other place. They really seem to have ruined the community there.

Virgins seemed a possibility but Peterson-Berger doesn't fit.

How did you get a recording of that concert or was it broadcast on R3?
