But what on EARTH has it got to do with Faust?!!!

Poise and Gounod both wrote oper(ett)as called Le medecin malgre lui

I should have thought there would be call for a medecin after eating that concoction...

Not the Gounod/ Poisé connection I was looking for.

Keep digging for the Faust connection. I'd also suggest looking for the Haydn next.  Wink

There's a bit in Act 1 of Faust: Me voici! d'ou vient ta surprise?

C'est possible?

With the Tchaikovsky/ Stravinsky marathon just about to begin, I thought they should head a new quartet to solve:

Tchaikovsky
Stravinsky
Alfven
Purcell

Here's an extra composer to help(?)

Tchaikovsky
Stravinsky
Alfven
Purcell
van Eyck

Extra clue....the Tchaikovsky is embedded within a very famous work which has appeared in the schedules today!  Wink
