I did not count the sheep this night and I am up early. I can start counting birds i suppose. Birds are everywhere. There are big flocks of black birds.
Why do people cound sheep and not birds?

On the other thought after looking at the picture I realised it is too difficult to do.
May be one should count elephants in one troup. (What do they call elephant flocks?)

Herds. Just like sheep.

I can't really participate in this thread, because for me night time is when you're all enjoying your morning.

What are you counting right now? You can count ships for example.

Now then.....Yan, Tan, Tethera, Fethera, Phubs, Aayther, Layather, Quoather, Quoather Dugs, Aena dugs, Taena dugs, Tethera dugs, Fethera dugs, Buon, Yain-a-bumfit, Tain-a-Bumfit, Eddera-a-bumfit, Peddera-a-bumfit, Jiggit..... Zzzzzz

Presumably stressed shepherds have the opposite problem and have to try and stop themselves counting sheep before they can get to sleep.

Back to counting notes. I want to participate in the Rite of Spring. This is my contribution.
In Russian language it says: Introduction and then the Kiss of the Earth

Back to sheep counting what language is that?

Shepherds sit on rocks piping and singing, don't they? They do in Wagner and Schubert, anyway - and in John Rutter, but I'd rather not go into that.

Don't feel de-baaaaa-ed fromthe discussion. I guess youre across the pond, but umpteen commuters on the docklands railway get away from their canary wharf desks at 11pmwhen the U.S. trading desks finish, whence
mucho wind down difficulties amid the feral street nocturnals near their homes.I myself was anight worker for some years-the advantages were occasionally outweighed by half-term din and gridlock heading home.

I'm a bit hungry too...
Time to go on a scavenge.
