Lucozade first then tea.   That should give me enough caffeine to get me downstairs at least.
You have an upstairs kettle?!

<jealousemoticon>

Erm.....yes, I carry it upstairs at night and bring it down again in the morning.  It means you can have a cuppa without getting out of bed - provided you remember to put the cup, teabag and milkjug on the tray as well.  Smiley

Hmm ... I had a different tea-related problem when I woke up today, I had used up the last of the milk last night and couldn't face the trip to Sainsbury's without having a cup of tea first, so I had to put yoghurt in it ... As DonB has wisely pointed out before, this doesn't really work.

My elderly mother, now 90, not only takes all the equipment for making a cup of tea into her bedroom each night (fair enough) but also, in a terrifyingly perilous ritual, fills up three vacuum flasks of boiling water each night to take in as well "in case there is a power cut".

Nothing, and I mean nothing*, will persuade her not to do this. It is a source of great anxiety. Undecided

[*Note: No, we've tried that.]

George, I can see how worrying that must be but it is very sweet! Smiley

Kalter Kaffee. Malhereusement.

How does it compare to coffee from the Mensa? I didn't have any coffee while in Germany.
Beer, water, green tea (not in the same glass).

Lucozade first then tea.   That should give me enough caffeine to get me downstairs at least.

Ooh yes.  I must have stairs!  Living on one level is fine when you're 90 or if you're disabled.  Stairs are good for you.  They keep you fit.

Don't start talking about cost now because certainly around here you can get little 2-up 2-downs for the price of any flat.  There are also maisonettes to rent and for first-time buyers.  Bungalows are even more expensive than houses because all the pensioners want them.

I'm absolutely sure you can rent something affordable with stairs these days.  Perhaps you're just living in the wrong area.  Wink

Although I've not (yet) been to where hh lives now, Milly, my guess is that unless it's very different from the majority of dwellings in the area, it won't have an upstairs of its own, although it may well be up stairs, or have another dwelling upstairs from it (and very possibly both.)

Absolutely correct.
Given the relative price and availability of properties upstairs for a single person, I'm probably doomed to be ground floor or basement bound for some time. I'd really love to have a top-floor flat... [dreams]

Think of it this way. If you're going to get into this live electronic music thing, you WILL NOT want a top-floor flat because after every gig you'll have to schlep all your gear up all those stairs, unless you have a lift. This is the voice of experience speaking.

He could always get a Stanah to take the speakers up.  Grin
