Do you both have to depart forever, Baz and Syd? This seems to me a situation taking on melodramatic tones. Over what? I don't really get it at all. But I join those who wish you both would stay, sincerely.

Which are precisely my feelings also. The most valuable threads of the year. The erudition. And the laughs. Do come back soon.

Yes, come back soon, Baz. You certainly weren't any old iron.

Good Gerald! Is it 4am already?!

No, certainly not! And until that time you may only refer to me as 'Dearest Hortense'. I hope I make myself clear. One cannot afford to be wishy-washy on such matters.

Never a good idea to go to bed at 8.30 p.m., even if you can't keep your eyes open!  You should prop them up with matchsticks and keep moving at all costs.  Here I am at 3.45 a.m., wide-eyed and bushy-tailed.  Grin

I'm going back to bed to try to sleep for another few hours..... Roll Eyes

Hope you got back to sleep Milly!
I'm just about to dash off to do some last minute preparation because I have to teach my first history lesson for the term this morning.
I hope they like it. They get to listen to Palestrina, de Rore and Monteverdi. What could go wrong?

Good morning, everyone. It's a glorious, perfect autumn day here.

Did anyone else have trouble accessing this site earlier?

No trouble here, Mary.

Glorious on the south coast too! Morning all. Off to do admin and meetings. What am I? Oh yes, a composer and a lecturer.  Roll Eyes

Oh yes, a composer and a lecturer.  Roll Eyes

Hurrah!

I read martle's comments and grinned. Because I think it's great to be a composer and a lecturer, and in many ways I'm feeling really quite cheerful about contributing to the running of a university by attending meetings and attending to admin. But that could be because this afternoon's admin consists of organising lunchtime concerts.

Martle's post just made me smile uncontrollably.
I'm probably feverish.  Grin

It's start of term psychosis...

Seriously though, if I could draw, I would start a comic strip based around the 'Darmstadt school' only they would be superheroes...
Actually they don't need to be superheroes. They could just be themselves. Wouldn't a cartoon-based 'biography' of those composers be wonderful? A bit like the new Star Trek XI. They could make a film out of it when it was finished.
Why isn't anyone doing this? I want to read it now!
Do it someone!

(and I haven't even had any coffee this morning...)

In my (admittedly limited) experience, inability to draw to any respectable standard has never hindered the majority of cartoonists.

A very good morning to you all.
It's raining but I don't mind.
I'm having a bagel for breakfast (really did mean to buy some more milk after choir practice but got so carried away with my own thoughts on the way back that I completely forgot) with marmalade and marmite (not together).
I often have some strange hybrid of 'Who will buy this wonderful morning' from Oliver and 'Oh what a beautiful mornin'' from Oklahoma on days like this (when the weather outside is frightful but I'm still quite cheerful).
On with the toasting and then on with the motley!
