Camberwell people:

Son has lived in Camberwell for some years. He used to be in a nice, though small, flat in St Giles Road, now has moved with lovely girlfriend to a house in the Grove Hill/Park area, much quieter. It's a really pretty little house (inside - typical London terrace outside) with a small garden. Cost a bomb by my Oop North standards.

My other son lives in Kilburn. It takes them about as long to get to each other as it does for me to get to London from Liverpool.

I know it's not the morning, but the Camberwell discussion seems to be here, so Good Morning for tomorrow.

I think I'll try saying Good Morning here again, just to see if anyone is reading it.

Nice summer weather here, much better than it was in the summer. I have a basket full of windfall cooking apples waiting for me to do something with them.

Or even these. Gosh, I`ve not had a baked apple for years. I must remedy that Smiley

So someone does read this thread Smiley Smiley. Thank you, Mort.

I love baked apples, and some of them will certainly finish up with sultanas stuffed down the middle. I've just made a whole lot of apple puree, which can be frozen, and later turned into various things sweet or savoury.

Apple pie.... oooh. Unfortunately I'm just no good at pastry.

Mary, that`s why frozen pastry was invented! There`s a really rather good one that my mother used but all I can remember is that it began with an `S`.  Well done Mort, more useless information Embarrassed  Still, there`s always Apple Crumble. Safe in any non-pastry cooks hands Grin

I've never found a frozen shortcrust that's any good, but the puff pastry is OK, and someone suggested rolling the ready-rolled shortcrust until it was much thinner, which seems a good idea.

My mother used to put a mixture of flour and sugar under the crust of apple pie - made a lovely goo.

I just misread that as 'tinners'!

Good morning all.   It's an angry-looking day here.  The sea looks spiteful and swollen and the white breakers are crashing down.  Lovely to be all cosy and warm inside the house.

Not a lot happening here today really - piano practice this morning whilst waiting for Tesco delivery, then youngster out for a haircut - lunch and then two visiting children to play for the afternoon.  Going to do a lovely roast/winter supper.  I'll only eat the veggies myself, but chicken for the growing child.

My younger son and his new partner are in the process of moving out of here today and tomorrow to their new flat, so after the weekend life will be back to normal.  My other dog will be moving back in here on Monday.  "Cuddly Dudley Dude" (kennel name). Dudley is a beautiful  light brindle Boxer with an all-black mask (for the purists!) but different to my dearest Alfie.  We'll have to get used to each other.  So to look forward to.....a winter's worth of bracing walks on the seafront, being exfoliated by sand there and back.  Hopefully I shall stay slim and fit as a result.  Roll Eyes

Have a good day.  Smiley

Morning all!

A calmer day here after yesterdays high winds and squally showers.  As I am still confined to barracks I shall probably idle the day away and achieve nothing  Cheesy

I didn't know you had a new dog Milly, you must post a photograph of him.  The family next door have a boxer who is very bouncey!!

Somehow I knew there'd be another boxer in the house before long, Mills. Glad you weren't booked on the same ship as Dode and the madam for your trip though: it was apparently still out of service as you were leaving, so I was starting to get worried....

It's wet and misty here, and yesterday's strong winds have calmed down. No doubt there'll be rather fewer leaves on the trees up country, though.

A gloomy grey and blustery morning Dahn Sarf. Well this bit anyway. The leaves are flying and the wood pigeons are bouncing around in the trees. I feel strongly disinclined to do much of anything but I will muffle myself up to go and get the paper. Brrr.

Have a good day, y`all Smiley

You sure it's a dog, Milly?  Cheesy

Merely corroborative detail, intended to give artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative.

Grey and blowy here too, but there is something romantic about November. I like it. Apples are still falling off the trees - I'm getting a bit tired of apples! They don't have a lot of flavour compared with Bramleys (I've no idea what variety they are), but if I add enough other things like raisins and cinnamon, and a bit of lemon, they taste fine.

Benjamin Britten (the rose!) is still in flower, though I can't say the ones that are left look quite as good as the one on my avatar.
