No. Especially to those of us imbued with the essence of that colour, MJ.

Another Ron photographic passion is that for ærial photographs. If the conditions are right, I'll happily snap away for any portion of the journey where it's permitted. Yesterday, I ended up on the opposite side of the plane to where I'd intended, and under the wing, too. Not all was quite lost, though: I quite like this:

A panorama into the afternoon sun taken from somewhere above Brough. Starting at the right of the picture, not quite halfway down, is the Isle of Walney, with Barrow and the rest of Furness in below it. Continuing clockwise, you can see the bottom end of Lake Windemere and its outflow into Morecambe Bay: the flattish peninsula after that is Cartmel, and the wiggling estuary centre bottom with the strip of railway bridge across it is the River Kent. Following the coast round further approximately three right angles away is the mouth of the River Lune beyond Lancaster, whilst the next big estuary is the Wyre at Fleetwood in the north of the Fylde Peninsula, a.k.a. Millyland. The next estuary is the Ribble, and the coast beyond that is Southport, with the Mersey estuary and the flat narrow Wirral beyond it. Next comes the Dee estuary, with North Wales and the mountains of Snowdonia clearly visible beyond: the narrow finger poking into the sunglare at the top of the picture is the LLeyn Peninsula. Where the glare narrows is the Menai Strait, with Anglesey beyond.

Somewhere down there is chez Milly and probably chez S'wave, perhaps chez Htohe, too.

I can look at this picture the whole day. I can study geography this way. Thank you for posting.

Here's a very different Lake District view, from May last year: looking up Ullswater towards Penrith, with the Pennines in the distance.

Lovely Anty - are these really yours?

Great aerial pictures Ron.
We used to holiday in a cottage just a little up the Western side near Pooley Bridge - so top right of the lake in your pic, if I've got me bearings right... Last time, the lake was so high the water was beginning to cover the road and the landing stages were submerged.

Merely corroborative detail, intended to give artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative.

This may amuse some of you. The central figure is indeed Luciano Berio, 'being all Italian' as I think he put it at the time. That's about his fifth glass of wine he's holding. The young woman is his delightful daughter. And the fashion car crash to the left is... er, not wearing green.

This is my favourite thread now. More photos please!
I love aerial pictures too, though I still don't know exactly where it is on the map.

And martle, I love informal photos of musical personalities. How did you ever get so close to Berio? Now I think you studied with him. May be it was your blue period then.

What a great photo to have in your collection, martle! Thanks for putting it up. I find those kind of informal photos far more interesting generally than the more studied publicity shots.

Unfortunately I've lost the one of me, Lenny Bernstein and Karly Stockhausen all snorkling happily together off the Galapagos Islands just before the premiere of my work, Rondo for a Naughty Sultana, in San Cristobal in the late sixties. Grin  Cry

Daniel,  Cheesy

I know what you mean! If only the cat hadn't eaten the one of me, Pierre Boulez, Simon Rattle, Cherie Blair, Michael Barrymore and the crazy guys from Top Gear, all chowing down at the Hove Balti Bar and Grill!  Tongue

May be these birds are next to a composer. You never know. I love them.

You inspire me to take my camera with me more often. I am going to Cavan next week and now determined to take my camera with me. May be there will be nothing interesting. People say Cavan doesn't have anything remarkable, but I am hoping. They do have a lake and it may be beautiful.
