CD, I can't listen to your ones as the sound keeps stopping and starting, it's like listening to it on a bad phone line.
Let it play through once with hiccups, and then replay it. With luck, that should do it, as the computer will no longer be attempting to stream her w/ a slow connection.

Bother it, CD, you've posted one from one of my favourite composers but I'm not sure which of two it is and I would gladly listen to the entire output of both right away except I have to go and rehearse Mundry and Ferneyhough...

I immediately thought Cathy Berberian too for Ollie's 39 but since that doesn't seem to be getting the thumbs up ... Salome Kammer? (Although, despite being deeply in love with her, I don't think I've ever heard her quite that good.)

Nothing so far either corrrect or hintworthy in the proffered answers to puzzle 39. We would suggest that Members might first attempt to identify the singer.

The problem with rapidshare (or at least one of them) is that I have used up my free downloads + have to wait 94 minutes for the next . . .

(ha ha - moved it to the 'discussion' thread to avoid being docked!)

But indeed, auto. Perhaps we should decide not to use that facility. I can't get anything through it either.

Well some can't deal with rapidshare.  I can't deal with sendspace.  Are we all OK with dishy's place?

(Or can someone give me detailed instructions as to how they download from sendspace?  I cannot believe you all wait for 25 - 50 minutes each time......)

Tommo

I gave up with the rapidshare screens, I guess it's me that is not rapid.

Sendspace is a superfast download for me, seconds is all it takes.

Even faster is my own webspace that I use as click and play for Sounds Familiar, but you guys are having so much fun with Syd I'll lay off Sounds Familiar for a while  Wink

I  don't have any problems with rapidshare or sendspace but John's quicktime just won't work for me.  The slider moves along but I don't get any sound.  Do I have to download something?

Anna,

When I play The Sounds Famliar clips (or the Puzzle downloads) they opt for Real Player on my laptop, I suppose there's a setting somewhere for preferred program......

Settings/Control Panel/Folder options/File types is what you want John.

Whenever I click on an audio file link I get the option of opening it with a program of my choice or saving it to my HD - but then I use Firefox Wink

I have Real Player set as my default player but John's musical links open up in quicktime for me  Huh

p.s.  Just went back to Sounds Familiar to check it out but only get page not found as John has removed the links, so I'll have to wait until he sets a new one.

dishy's system requires dishy's password. He like AndyD uses his own webpage for this racket.

But as always, do keep me posted iff you have probs.
