225 is by a very prolific English composer of the present day who has written a prodigious amount for piano, much of it extremely virtuosic.
A wild stab at 225 - is it Michael Finnissy's 'The History of Photography in Sound'
Alas it is not.

We thought that might bring you out of the woodwork!

Mikrophonie I it is indeed. Points and if we are not mistaken a substantial Time Bonus to Professor Barrett.

Now this sounds like an odd kind of piano so I shall guess that it is a Luthéal, for which the only piece of repertoire I know of, though I don't know it so to speak, is Ravel's Tzigane.

How pleasing. However, I shall indeed have to return to the woodwork. I believe there must be a few thousand Puzzles I haven't managed to listen to yet.

I remind Members of these clues:
232 is actually the tail end of a vocal piece.
234 is an early and drastically uncharacteristic work of its composer.
and add some more:
232 you will notice is composed upon a ground bass and was written by a composer well-known for such things.
234 is the beginning of the first of a set of three songs for soprano and orchestra.

Again Points for the Professor who continues his giddy rise through the ranks!

Is 225 Finnissy's Gershwin Arrangements?

Puzzle 250 is Prologue for solo viola by Gérard Grisey, I believe.

Hurrah!

But yes there is. I'm off out for the evening. Happy puzzling all.
