Two separate guesses here:

1) Is extract 106 from Lily Boulanger's Nocturne for violin and piano?

2) Is extract 112 from Lily Boulanger's Nocturne for violin and piano?

Mr. Baz, if I am remembering this rightly, snatch 109 is the 2nd movt from Mozart 40.

It is indeed Mr Daniel - well done.

Baz

Thankyou Mr. Baz, you're very kind.

HERE or HERE may be found puzzle 115.

We hope members will excuse a) the exceptional length, and b) the sound quality's not being what it might be.

Puzzle 115 is the instrumental Praeludium that links the Osanna and Benedictus in Beethoven's Missa solemnis, is it not?

(We have a recording that lasts a mere 62 seconds and still sounds heart-stopping.)

Sorry no Mr Grew. You have the instrumentation correct in both, but not the form.

106 is the correct nationality, but the extract 112 is much closer to home.

Table of Winners:

Mr. Inquisitor (10,000)

Congratulations to Mr. Inquisitor for being the first to reach 10,000! His points total was reset to 0 at that time, and his name is the first to have been entered in the Table of Winners. In addition, next to his name in the General Points Table a single asterisk will now appear, indicating his status as prior winner and the respect correspondingly due to him. His record one-minute solution is unlikely ever to be surpassed!

The next target will be calculated as follows: supposing the current objective to be x, then the next objective will be x + x/2. For example:

10,000 + 5,000 = 15,000
15,000 + 7,500 = 22,500
22,500 + 11,250 = 33,750 and so on

Thus our next winner will be the first Member to reach 15,000 points . . .

Puzzle 116.mp3 is to be found via the link to its file name.

At the risk of, well, getting it wrong, is it Ligeti's 1st string quartet?
(I was thinking along the lines of Bartok but it didn't sound like I remember it...)

I do not fear negative numbers.
Are we also establishing a Table of Losers for those brave mortals reaching -10,000 points?
Just asking...

Sorry hh, it predates Ligeti's birth. It was completed before Bartok's second quartet.
