My Nan told me that thunder was caused by God playing Skittles.  She said He had a skittle alley in the sky and when he got bored he had a game with the Angels.

The weather today has been so unbelievably hot!  15 degrees or more, same tomorrow, then hail on Saturday, and snow on Sunday and back down to freezing <shriek>  All the Magnolia trees are in full bloom - one touch of frost and the petals turn into dirty brown rags.  Such a shame.

Like my white camellia, which is a sorry sight now.

My red camellia is just about ready to flower.  Hope I don't miss it if the weather changes over the next couple of days and it's killed off!

I heard that one as well, Ants. Except the lightening was caused by the spark from the tinder box (or the like) when God wanted to light his pipe. That was before smoking was banned, of course Wink He'd probably have to go 'downstairs' now ... Roll Eyes

No, surely not "downstairs'" with Lucifer Mort, but just outside the Pearly Gates.  Imagine Him and St. Peter pacing the damp clouds, wrapped up in their fleeces, desparately dragging on their fags and cursing the Labour Government.

Actually, that's quite a nice thought  Cheesy

Snow here, too, but not much, and blue sky, bright sun. Nice day.

We had about 3cms overnight. I took this in the garden one hour ago. The sun has melted it now, 95% blue skies now.

Winter's last fling?

No blue sky here, it's still snowing, albeit lightly. The cats are not impressed.

I looked out of the window at about 11.30 last night and it was snowing lightly.  Beautiful!  Unfortunately it didn't settle - in fact it hardly ever does here because there's too much salt in the air I think from the sea.  Very cold but sunny.  Lovely day.

I saw BBM's post earlier about snow here in Brighton and thought 'yeah, but not down here actually on the front!'. But now we're looking at at least 2 inches. Last time it settled here to any extent I can recall was at least ten years ago.  Shocked
