It's been snowing on and off all day here, but not thick enough to settle. There's been hail and sleet. So much for Spring. I wish we could have a lovely covering of snow like some of your pictures.

Well most of the south coast snow has melted now, but it was very lovely this morning! You know what I forgot I liked most about snow falling? The silence.

Absolutely right Martle. That amazing, magical silence that, somehow, you can 'hear'. Oh, I want it to snow again so that I can hear it

Unfortunately, the weight of said snow appears to have completely buglered my monster rosemary bush: At least it freezes, but it won't be the same

At every one of these [classical] concerts in England you will find rows of weary people who are there, not because they really like classical music, but because they think they ought to like it. (Shaw, Don Juan in Hell)

I never saw rosemary bush before. I thought rosemary is a herb. I hope it will survive the snow.

t-p, rosemary is a herb, but rosemary bushes can grow quite big (although not always as big as PW's stonking great thing there). It will survive - it's quite hardy - but the bush may be misshapen for good now, I guess.

Woke to about two inches of snow this morning. By the time I got to work, there was nothing. It's normally the other way round -- I get almost no snow lying on the coast and run into it as I move inland. So now I have no idea what to expect on my journey home And there's no way I can convince my boss that the snow is heavy enough for me to stay at home tomorrow

No snow here - a glorious day. I may even do some gardening. My rosemary bush is in full flower. The flowers look like this:

And here at last, thanks to Mr Dough guiding my technical incompetence, are my photos of North London yesterday. The view from the bedroom window, c 8am (rather less Homes and Gardens than pw) Then the park at the end of the road c9am and And about 1 pm snow gone A priest at church told me that friends of his in St Albans are going to use the photo taken of their church on Easter Day for next year's parish Christmas Card. A Barbara Pym moment.

Thanks for those, Don B. I particularly like No 3. Very North London. A priest at church told me that friends of his in St Albans are going to use the photo taken of their church on Easter Day for next year's parish Christmas Card. A Barbara Pym moment.
Miss Doggett and her friend Miss Prideaux, stalwart members of the Parish Pastoral Council for many years now, may feel that is "not quite the thing". With the scent of victory still in their nostrils over the tins of condensed soup threatened for the altar at Harvest Festival there may be words at the next meeting.

Still snowing hard here in Brighton. I've never seen anything like this here before. My garden ten minutes ago: What makes it even more magical is that the world just stops at the end of PW's garden.

Ho! It's been snow, hail and ice here (still a few flurries) but today is a little warmer. My longing for the warmth of the sun is getting stronger and Mrs. S'wave has developed her sinister "searching for holidays" attitude from a moderate level to a fairly active and insistent one. If I went to a local fortune teller I feel that the traditional words "you are going on a journey" would be uttered. Hmm! Cheers S'wave
