I'm wondering whether to panic about the mighty storm that we are told will hit us tomorrow. I hope Milly's noticed that we are advised to "stay away from coastal areas until Wednesday". Could be a bit difficult.

Just a bit!  I couldn't be any nearer the sea without actually being in it at Spring high tide.  It was right up to the coastguard's wall yesterday.  At the moment it is eerily still and a bit spooky.  The calm before the storm?  Shocked

There are coastal flood warnings in place from Barrow in Furness down to Liverpool and Warrington.

The Environmental Agency says it was "preparing for the worst" in Wales.

Now, where is me souwester and inflatable lifeboat?

But, are we bovvered?  No, winning The Triple Crown yesterday means we can now walk on water  Cheesy

Sorry Milly,it's not looking good, but let us hope they are erring on the side of caution?  I know how close you are to the sea, you can sign up for Environmental Agency alerts.  This intense low coincides with the Spring Tides of course.  We too are on Flood Watch.

Well normally I'm sure you could take something for it but tonight - not so sure!  Sad

I don't have any hatches to batten down but usually gales deposit plastic flower pots into our pond so I had a wander round just now and put away a few loose things. The goldfish look very bright red this year except the two oldies who are nearly white now. Although we do have goldfish the pond is designed for wildlife to enter and exit. Saw one frog on the lawn, no spawn yet. (Needs more than one frog, John, doh)

It's been a glorious sunny day here in the Midlands, slight breeze, but noticed that it's beginning to cloud over now....

We just got back from taking the dog for a good long run.  I thought we'd better do it before the bad weather sets in.  He ran himself into the ground for an hour or so, so he'll be ok till tomorrow.  I can just let him out in the garden last thing before bed - assuming of course that I can open the door.  There have been occasions in the past when the wind has been so strong it hasn't been possible.

It's been sunny and very cold up to now but the sky is turning ominously dark grey over the sea behind us.   Sad

I see that the storm is making itself felt. How are our coastal dwelling Members? Hope Ron doesn't get stuck in Gatwick Airport Shocked Although better that and be safe.

It's appalling here.

It's been blowing up all night - Force 9-10 gales and hurricane-force gusts detected in West Sussex.  There are trees down across almost every major road in the county and almost no trains at all running - no commuting for me today.  I can't imagine that Ron is getting anywhere, unfortunately, but you really wouldn't want to fly in this ....

Hope Martle - who is a lot nearer the sea than I am - is OK.

Oh, and the man on BBC Southern Counties has just said it hasn't reached its worst yet  Shocked Shocked... it will around midday.

But according to the Gatwick website, the early flight to Edinburgh has left - if that's the one that Ron is on.  Wouldn't fancy it myself in this.

I just had a look at the news to see what's happening in Lunnun. Trees down and blocking roads, part of the M25 flooded, part of the A40 closed. The rain is hurling itself against the windows and the wind has been throwing bins and garden furniture around, but nothing really drastic. Now watch everything go pear shaped ....

We've been very lucky indeed in this little piece of the North West coast! So far anyway.  In fact the weather was worse last week.  We awoke to a dull, grey aspect but nothing out of the ordinary at all.  The trees outside are hardly moving so it isn't windy at all for this area......yet.  The day is yet young of course.

Hope all those in the South are ok.  Sad
