Indeed, but he was drowned on orders from Wenceslas - how does that colour our perception of Good King Wenceslas?  Who last stepped out on the Feast of Stephen.  Who, it would appear, was a bit of a tyrant, to say to least.

I cannot find my piccie of Wenceslas chapel which is totally mind blowing

Prague's Churches were a bit heavy, as was the cuisine.  Lot of smoked meats, very little salad, heavy on the cabbage!  After an evening meal you needed a long walk for the digestion to settle down.  And if you were a vegetarian then just forget it.  However, if you have an interest in architecture it is fantastic.

Incidentally, today October 1st is day of St. Therese de L'Enfant Jesus of Lisieux under whose patronage I am (and another MBer here!)

In the Orthodox Church today is the feast of the Protecting Veil of the Mother of God, inspiration of John Taverner's cello piece, heartily despised by many contemporary music buffs.

I am not religious person. I was raised in atheist society.
I saw a program about Orthodox churches all around the world. It was interesting.
This is an Orthodox church inside Russia.

Orthodox church is very similar to the Catholic church. All services are longer and one has to stand up. Most of my friends here are like me (not religious and know very little).
They said on the tele that Russian church is united now. This means Russian Orthodox church inside and outside of Russia is united.

(I have a soft spot for it. I have a tape of it that I played over and over again, and composed a piece for solo cello and string orchestra that was half-Tavener, half-Strauss (Richard). It wasn't terribly good but who cares?)
