I'm a dog person.  We have a sleepy old greyhound. I love dog's with pointy noses!

But I do like cats too - it's just they make me sneeze.

Ho!

No, when I fell down the cliff i hadn't been drinking, I was a geology student at the time and half slid, half fell about 30ft down from an outcrop where I was looking for Echinoids.  The underlying rock was oxford clay so I had a fairly soft landing.
I wasn't drinking last night either - in case you were wondering.  I was just very tired after an unnecessarily long day at work.

There are some nice pictures on this thread, by the way!  I'll put some shells on here later on.

Ho!  Having visited the "other place" I couldn't resist posting this.

The folk in their hundreds to BBC came for the Boards
There's men from the barn and the forge and the mill and the fold,
The lads and the girls and the Ladies and also some Lords
 They all wished to post on the Threads that will never be old.

I wish one could know them, I wish there were tokens to tell
The fortunate fellows that now you can never discern;
And then one could talk with them friendly and wish them farewell
And watch them depart on the way that they will not return.

But now you may stare as you like and there's nothing to scan;
And brushing your elbow unguessed-at and not to be told
They carry back bright to their corner the wise words of man,
The Threads that will die in their glory and never be old.
(Apologies to A.E. Housman)

Cheers

John W, congratulation with your daughter, she looks absolutely stunning.

Jonathan, I am relieved to know that you are ok. It was a good landing.

Good poem, soundwave, I will have to study it for a while.

Speaking of poems:

"As radio 3 goes down the pan,
I'll buy as many CDs as I can"

(Sorry, another long day at work)

Here's a Charonia variegata by means of an apology:

Controller of Radio 3,
Stop this nonsense! Why can't you just see
That modding our threads
Puts the thought in our heads
That you're not the man you should be!
