I remember reading an article about the "demise of the Cockney sparrow" certainly, but there's never been a shortage in this area. I have my own little flocks which nest in the ivy of both front and back gardens, despite the best efforts of Sydney Sheila. When you consider that sparrowhawks can polish off three sparows per day, that's not bad going. You'll be pleased to know that my tits are in great condition too!

Even dalek? Actually ours has just the lid and the wire, there's no internal compartment with holes. So it's no good for seed but good for fatballs and fruit. Squirrel gets to it but then the thin branch bends way down, so he jumps off and the feeder is then catapulted into the air but stays on the branch I guess it frightened the life out of the squirrel as he's stopped doing it now

I have a mixed seed feeder, two with sunflower hearts, one with peanuts and 2 fatballs out at all times - costs a bomb, but worth every penny!
The different birds definitely enjoy particular feeds, so it is worth having a variety.
That reminds me, I must pop out in the rain and fill up the sunflower hearts....

I guess it frightened the life out of the quirrel as he's stopped doing it now It certainly frightened the s out of him! I recommend growing teasels as a treat for the bees when they're in flower and a treat for the goldfinches when they've set seed. The flowers are spectacular both when purple in the summer and then when snow-capped in the winter. Sorry not my own picture but I have seen goldfinches feeding on mine.

Merely corroborative detail, intended to give artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative.

Sidonie would still be a sheila by inference anyway, surely, if there's a grewish conection?
