I remember reading an article about the "demise of the Cockney sparrow" certainly, but there's never been a shortage in this area.  I have my own little flocks which nest in the ivy of both front and back gardens, despite the best efforts of Sydney Sheila.  When you consider that sparrowhawks can polish off three sparows per day, that's not bad going.

You'll be pleased to know that my tits are in great condition too!  Grin

Well my little cock has been quiet today  Grin He's normally splashing about in the pond with the rest of the sparrow family; they have a nest nearby.

Even dalek?  Wink

Actually ours has just the lid and the wire, there's no internal compartment with holes. So it's no good for seed but good for fatballs and fruit. Squirrel gets to it but then the thin branch bends way down, so he jumps off and the feeder is then catapulted into the air but stays on the branch  Smiley

I guess it frightened the life out of the squirrel as he's stopped doing it now  Cheesy

I have a mixed seed feeder, two with sunflower hearts, one with peanuts and 2 fatballs out at all times - costs a bomb, but worth every penny!

The different birds definitely enjoy particular feeds, so it is worth having a variety.

That reminds me, I must pop out in the rain and fill up the sunflower hearts....

It certainly frightened the s out of him!  Cheesy

I recommend growing teasels as a treat for the bees when they're in flower and a treat for the goldfinches when they've set seed. The flowers are spectacular both when purple in the summer and then when snow-capped in the winter.

Sorry not my own picture but I have seen goldfinches feeding on mine.

Sidonie would still be a sheila by inference anyway, surely, if there's a grewish conection?

Sidonie has struck again!  It must have been while we were having tea.  All that's left is a pile of feathers and a tiny little beak.  Cry Cry Cry

She probably looked through the window and  Cry Cry Cry at the sight of that poor dead salmon on your tea table! Wink
